What does LB stamped on a Ford Flathead block mean?
Steve says 1936 was the first year for insert-style main bearings, replacing the poured babbitt of 1932–1935, and those blocks were supposed to be stamped LB. He warns the letters could easily have been stamped onto a 1935 block, because 1936 blocks are more desirable.
