Do all 1949–1953 Ford Flathead distributors and covers interchange?

No. Ed shows that one distributor has a shank on the end that runs in a support in some covers, while another has a smaller shaft. He shows the distributor will not fit an aluminum cover but does fit a steel one, and says he had to shim one cover with extra gaskets to stop rubbing.
