Can an 8BA clutch and flywheel be serviced without removing the oil pan?

Yes. The detachable 8BA bellhousing lets the oil pan remain on the engine while the clutch and flywheel are changed because the oil pan stops at the rear of the engine instead of wrapping around the flywheel.
