How does Ed keep the alternator clear of the carburetor on a three-carburetor Flathead?

Ed makes a one-inch block that moves the alternator ahead one inch, away from the carburetor. He also cuts slots in and drills the Speedway bracket so the alternator goes in front of it and keeps its adjustment. It is a one-wire alternator.
