block comparison · FF-0137

Where does the French Flathead block have more material than a Ford block?

Steve and Ed show extra material between the deck holes where Ford decks always crack, at another deck hole that is no longer round because the block is thicker there, and at the water-pump mounting flange. Steve estimates that flange at about a sixteenth of an inch on the U.S. block; on the French block they estimate a quarter inch to almost half an inch.
