Are the French Flathead intake ports smaller than Ford's?

Steve measured the port openings the same as the Ford blocks, with 1.5-inch valves and the same seats. The difference is in the bowl below the valve seat, which is necked down by over an eighth of an inch. A performance builder would clean up that area anyway, just more of it.
