Why use a modern metric ring pack in a Ford Flathead?
Steve compares an older-style piston with four relatively wide rings against a newer piston with a three-ring metric ring pack and much thinner compression rings. Fewer, thinner rings mean less friction, as on new cars. He says the bore has to be honed to the finish those rings need, which he leaves to the machinist.
