What valve sizes work in a performance Ford Flathead?

Ford used 1.5-inch intake and exhaust valves, which Steve considers fine for a stock rebuild. The next step is 1.6-inch intakes, as on the block shown, then possibly 1.6-inch exhausts. Beyond that he sees diminishing returns, because port size becomes the limit, not valve size.
