How do you install an exhaust valve and guide in a Ford Flathead?
Ed puts the spring in, then the guide with its rubber O-ring, leaving the valve loose. He slips a slotted tool he made, about an inch long and cut from a piece of pipe, over the valve stem and sets the valve on it. Pushing on the valve with the tool underneath drives the guide down far enough to put the lock in. Then, with the valve, lock, spring and retainer in place, he uses a C-clamp to put the two locks on.
