How did Ed get Red's Headers to clear a gear reduction starter on a Flathead?

Ed says the new Red's Headers, made in California, fit fairly well, but one header touched the new gear reduction starter at a small wire that holds the starter together. He heated the header with a torch and dimpled it in about a quarter of an inch to miss the starter. Other than that everything went right on.
