How do the shifter detents and park lock work inside a Turbo 350?
Ed shows a spring that holds the shifter positions, and the shift lever, which moves a long manual valve up and down inside the transmission. In park, the lever runs a second long lever down, and the spring goes back in and locks the transmission so it cannot move.
