What block and oil pan does Joe Abbin's 335 HP Flathead use?

The engine started out as a 1950 Mercury block. It uses the stock oil pan, which Joe likes because its sump is at the rear and fits an early Ford. He points out that when Ford went to the Y-block the sump moved to the front, which makes that engine a difficult swap into an early Ford.
