How does Joe Abbin keep a supercharged Flathead from overheating?
Joe says his car has been on the road about 30 years with no major maintenance and does not overheat; it runs about 100 degrees over the outside temperature. The important thing is a clean block that is not cracked, and then keeping the cooling system maintained. He says overheated truck and heavy-duty engines often cracked between the exhaust valve and the cylinder, he has not found a permanent fix for those cracks, and he buys other blocks instead. His car uses an electric fan hidden in the grille.
