Does a strong supercharged Flathead need exotic internal parts or special heads?
Joe says no. There is no exotic equipment in his block, so the short block is not much more than a basic rebuild, and the right combination of equipment makes the difference. His first engine, in the 1950 Mercury, used iron heads; he says iron heads can be made to perform very well, though working on them is a dirty job and there are some limitations.
