Can an out-of-balance clutch come apart on a stock engine?
Yes, according to Ed. He says it is not uncommon for these clutches to be way out of balance. A high school friend of his had a stock Ford with a 312 and a single four-barrel, and its clutch blew up and put a hole in the hood. It does not have to be a high-performance motor; if anything is out of balance, it will come apart.
