Why does a Flathead V8 have only three exhaust ports on each side?
Because the center two cylinders on each bank share one exhaust port. Steve points this out on the custom headers made for the test, which carry exhaust gas temperature probes. He adds that the readings are a little different on a Flathead because the exhaust port runs through the block and is cooled somewhat.
