Does a Flathead supercharger belt need a spring tensioner?
Steve says the tensioner is optional. Normally the belt just runs around the crank and back up, and a rod is used to move the alternator up and tighten the belt. He prefers the tensioner because it keeps the right tension no matter how hot or cold it is or how much the belt stretches.
