How do you get oil pressure in a fresh Flathead before the first start?

Steve back filled the oil system, then at home spun the engine over on the starter with no spark plugs in it until it showed oil pressure. He fired it only briefly before the dyno day, saw 40 pounds, and shut it off. The engine has a Mercury oil pan.
