How much power did the original ARDUN truck conversion make?
Fitted over the stock slightly domed pistons, the original conversion ended up at about 6.5 to 7 to 1 compression, and still used the factory Ford two-barrel carburetor. Steve says he has seen figures of around 150 to 160 horsepower, against roughly 100 to 110 for the Mercury and Ford truck engines of the day. He describes it as meant to be reliable, cool better and give a little more power.
