Why does an ARDUN conversion use tall Coke bottle lifters?

The lifters are much taller than stock, shaped like an old glass soft drink bottle. Steve says the main reason is to put the push rod at the right angle to come up through the holes where the valves and guides used to be, which matters most on the long-travel exhaust side. Even so, the block has to be ground for push rod clearance, and so do the pressed-in inserts.
