What does Ed do with the two-piece valve guides in a 1938 Flathead?

He replaces them. The 1938 engine has the early valves with two-piece guides, which can be hard to get apart. Ed fits new late-model valves, which use a normal keeper and a one-piece guide, and throws the two-piece guide parts away.
