Can an early Flathead be converted from babbitt-type rod bearings to insert bearings?
Yes, with different rods. Ed says the only maker he knows of for an insert-bearing rod is probably SCAT, and it has to be a long rod: a Chevrolet rod is too short. A new set of SCAT rods with insert bearings, probably taking Chevy bearings, is the other way this owner could repair the engine.
