What does a cut-open cast iron Mercury Flathead head show?
Steve calls it the other end of Flathead production from the early aluminum head. He thinks the EAC heads were about 1952, possibly 1953, and no earlier than 1949. It is cast iron, which is much stronger than aluminum of the same thickness, and it is a pretty thick head.
