Why does an ARDUN engine run cooler than a stock Flathead?
The conversion takes the exhaust out of the block. With the ports in the cylinder head there is a tube for each cylinder, four on each side where the Flathead tested earlier had three outlets, so the exhaust flows much better and its heat no longer passes through the block. Steve adds that the heads are big and hold a lot of water. The header tubes also carry the exhaust gas temperature probes for the dyno.
