What does the valley cover do on an ARDUN engine?
It covers the valley where the lifters are. There are no intake passages there anymore, so it is really just a cover, but it also carries the mount for the generator and the oil fill and breather at the back. Steve adds that these heads follow the postwar 24-stud layout, before the 8BA, with the water outlet in the middle.
