How do you measure for push rods on Don Ferguson ARDUN heads?
Don Ferguson supplies adjustable intake and exhaust measuring push rods and a specific process. With the head on and the rocker shafts torqued down, so the head gasket is compressed, turn the engine until the cam is on its base circle. Run the adjusting ball all the way up into the rocker arm, lengthen the measuring push rod to zero lash, take it out and measure it. Do that at all 16 locations. Then take the shortest intake and the shortest exhaust, subtract 100 thousandths of an inch, and have the push rods made to those lengths.
