What makes the 1938 Ford Flathead different from other years?

Ed calls the 1938 a one-year engine and says he thinks every part in it is different from the rest. He places it at the end of the 1934, 1935 and 1937 run, with 1938 and 1940 being a different motor. The oil pan and distributor are different, and so is almost everything that bolts onto it.
