Why start a fresh engine at home before taking it to the dyno?
Steve says he does not usually pre-start an engine before the dynamometer, but it is wise to. It is a little extra work to set up and hook up all the systems, but it helps find oil leaks, fuel leaks, an ignition problem or even something internal that you might not find out about until you are at the dyno, where hooking up is a big job and time is money.
