oiling · FF-0448
How did Steve confirm the ARDUN heads were getting oil before the first start?
A Flathead has no oil in the top of the engine: the highest it goes is the cam bearings, and the rest is splash. With the ARDUN, Steve made tubing for a pressure feed to each head, through the rocker shafts and rocker arms, with drains on each side back to the block. With everything hooked up, the spark plugs out and the valve covers off, he spun the engine on the starter to build oil pressure and saw the rocker arms and shafts getting oil on both sides.
