Is it risky to start a new flat tappet cam engine at home before the dyno break-in?

Steve calls it a low-level risk, because the cam is not being broken in and that needs to happen right away. Robert at the dyno will break the cam in. Part of doing that right away is making sure the timing is right and the carburetor will run, so that when it is started under load there is a good chance of getting through the break-in period. What he saw in the short run was enough for him.
