How much boost can an ARDUN Flathead with almost 10 to 1 compression take?
Not much. Steve says almost 10 to 1 is the ragged edge of pump gas without electronic controls such as fuel injection and knock sensors, so there is little room to add boost without getting into detonation. From his modeling he picked a pulley ratio of about 156 percent, 1.56 times crank speed: at 6,000 engine RPM the blower turns close to 9,000, for around six pounds of boost.
