Is a 390 CFM carburetor enough for a street engine?
It depends on what the engine is built to do. Steve agrees the viewer may be right: plenty of 289s run around on two-barrels that flow less than 390 CFM, and for a car that runs errands and never sees more than about 3,000 RPM, 390 is probably plenty. For a drag strip or salt flat car it may not be near enough. Steve picked the 750 for the ARDUN with the supercharger in mind, and thinks the earlier supercharged Flathead ran a 650.
