Does an ARDUN engine need valve guides in the block?
No. The ARDUN heads have pressed-in valve guides for all 16 valves, because the valves are in the head. In the block, where the Flathead guides used to be, the push rods now come up. Guiding the push rods there would not be necessary or practical, because they tilt back and forth as the rocker arm moves.
