What is a Ford banjo rear end, and what does an open driveshaft conversion change?
Ed identifies this as the rear end from a 1948 Ford. These are banjo rear ends, and they came with a closed tube drive shaft. This one has a conversion that somebody put on so it takes an open drive shaft.
