Why couldn't this 21-stud Flathead be bored past 60 over?
Because the bore would hit the head studs: on a 21-stud block the studs are so close together that they come right against the edge of the cylinder. Ed adds that 80 over pistons are not made, so all eight cylinders were sleeved back to standard.
