Is one horsepower per cubic inch a good result for an ARDUN Flathead?
Yes, by the old rule of thumb. When Steve first talked to Don Ferguson years ago, Don put it in the neighborhood of one horsepower per cubic inch. This is a roughly 289 cubic inch engine, so about 290 would have been expected, and it made 306, more than one horsepower per cubic inch. Steve notes that in the older days that was a big deal, and the head design goes back to 1948, on an 80-year-old block.
