What years is the 8BA Flathead block, and what did a Mercury Flathead make?
Steve's block is an 8BA, which he gives as 1949 to 1953, or 1948 to 1953 as some would argue because of the availability in trucks: the last generation of the Flatheads. He thinks the Mercury, with its slightly longer stroke, was 255 cubic inches and about 115 horsepower, against 306 for this engine.
